Farm Action Discussion Group - Beef and Sheep England


Do you want a clear understanding of your current business? Do you need to create a plan to optimise your profit and improve your lifestyle?

These groups offer the chance to work with an independent, leading farm consultant alongside other progressive farmers in an interactive group environment.


The Focus

All areas of farm business profitability; soil heath, grazing management, animal production, environment, farm software, diversification and personal development.


The Aim

To enable farmer to farmer learning alongside consultant support. Empowering farmers to identify and understand the factors influencing their business, plan for and implement change to reach their personal and financial targets.


The Consultants

This year we have teamed up with renowned consultants Liz Genever and Matt Blyth to be able to offer a regional service. The 3 of us will work together to share expert advice and provide specialist knowledge to group members as required.

Matthew Blyth
Blyth Livestock Advisory Services

Matthew Blyth is an experienced innovator in the sheep and beef industry, managing a flock for the past 13 years has given him hands-on experience to support and build upon advice given.


Dr. Liz Genever

Liz is an independent sheep and beef consultant with an interest in grass and forage, grazing management, demonstrations and research. Previously working for AHDB has given Liz a wealth of knowledge within the industry.

How does it work?

Regional groups of 12-20 livestock farmers meet face to face 4 times/year with the groups farm consultant.

A group member hosts the meeting which will have a theme relevant to the groups need/interest.

The consultant or invited expert will lead an interactive session on the meeting theme.

Members will share ideas, questions, experiences.

Farm tour lead by host farmer.

Review of farm, group feedback and suggestions.

Members form Action plan for their business to be completed before next meeting.

  Webinars will be hosted between the face to face meetings. These will share management information relevant to the time of year so members can be pro-active in their decision making and planning.

What's the cost?


Group Membership (Year 1) = £500/12 months*

*Based on 14 members per group

What's Included?

  • 4 face to face meetings & 6 webinars hosted and delivered by the consultant team.

  • Discount on one to one consultancy for members.


Applications Close 01/03/2020.  Regional groups will be formed based on the locations of the applicants, aim is to ensure farms with comparable environments and systems are in the same group.  First meetings will take place in April/May to suit the group members.
